Our Ballast Compactor is no different as it’s an efficient and economical tool for packing ballast under railway sleepers.

The Keltec Ballast Compactor is a robust tool, which uses its high compacting force and vibrating frequency to restore track geometry. This is done by the tampers vibrating and packing ballast densely under the railway sleeper. The vibrations are created by an eccentric shaft on each of the tamping arms, these spin at 2,500rpm resulting in a vibrating frequency of 42 Hz.

Our ballast compactor is light weight due to the use of high strength steel in its construction. They are available in single and double compactor configurations and can be provided with a range of hitches to fit excavators, backhoes and hi-rail grapple trucks.
